Hey you! Yeah, I'm talking to you right there all lounging back with your hand barely on your mouse and drinking a can of pop while munching on a Snickers. Don't you think you could be doing something better with your time instead of sitting in front of your computer and reading my life? Maybe get out and go for a brisk walk or jump in the pile of leaves you raked and rake them up again?
I remember a time when no children wanted to be cooped up in the house. There was just too much going on outside to care what the television said. My friends and I would play from practically sun-up to sun-down but today you literally have to beg a kid to go outdoors. Why? Are we so advanced now that doing recreational activities is now considered primitive?
Crisis: America is overly overweight and too many people don't care about it. Parents don't want to spend time with their kids so they let the television and computer do it for them and then they whine when all their children want to do is watch movies and eat micro waved popcorn.
Wake up people!!! This is an epidemic. We need a way to start forcing people not motivated enough to doing activity. My solution to everyone is to cut off your power for two hours a day and get out and do something and I don't mean to go out to a restaurant. Get involved in some kind of activity. Play a game of baseball or kickball, go for a nature hike or bike some trails. Do something! I'm not saying kill yourselves or get hurt and then end up watching television or playing on the computer all doped up and in pain. All I'm saying is there is so much do in this short life than to just live through the television.
I just had to get off my chest. As soon as I press submit on this baby I'm going for a stroll in the rain (yes mom, I have an umbrella).
As always God bless and take care,
Jen

Overly overweight? Is that like a handicapped disabled person? Or a short midget?
And yes maam. As soon as my foot heals and I have a few kids, I'll get right outside and play with them!
Preach on, sista. After the parent's let the TV and video games babysit their kids, they send them to school and expect the teachers to be miracle workers and teach their kids all the things THEY should have taught them. Like manners. And that they are CHILDREN and not grown ups. I'll get off my soap box. That was the situation at my first school I taught at, but not here! Hallelujah! Parents that actually give a crap about their student's progress (or lack there of).
amen!... although i am one of those kids that used to be outside 24/7... i was always hanging out with my neighbors grandsons, riding dirtbikes and falling off my normal bike, rollerblading up and down the streets and skinning my knees and elbows all up [i was also one of those kids that never wore elbow or knee pads or a helmet]. but now, i never go out unless i'm actually going somewhere... there's not all that much to do around here, and i think girls eventually reach a phase where they'd rather not get dirty and junk.. but not me! why dont i go outside? i guess its not fun to go outside by yourself.. haha wow i'm not even sure this is making sense but yeah... i agree with you totally. that's the point i was trying to make.. hahaha.
true true...so sad though!
I remember a time when I had to take a child outside and fore him or /her to ride their bike, and yes Jen I taught you to use both hand on the handlebars till someone didn't listen and broke their arm, that is why you like walking so much
Love You Dad
